If you are a current student enrolled in classes for sign language interpreting and would like to intern, call or email us to set up opportunities for an internship.

Requirements for Interpreters

All interpreters must keep their files up to date with the following documentation:

  • Current agreement
  • Copy of current interpreter certification
  • Copy of Social Security card
  • Current driver’s license
  • Copy of negative TB results for the current year
  • Proof of MMR or titer results for rubella/rubeola
  • History of having chicken pox/titer results/Varivax (2x)
  • Letter of confidentiality and test for hospitals
  • W9 form
  • Copy of professional liability insurance
  • Resume
  • Criminal background check
  • Photo (for ID badge)

or set up an appointment to come by the office and drop them off.

Expectations

  • The interpreter is expected to arrive on the job site at least 10 minutes before the assignment is scheduled to begin.
  • The interpreter is expected to provide the client with a card from Accessible Signs with the interpreter’s name.
  • The interpreter will work professionally according to the RID code of ethics.
  • The interpreter agrees to contact the agency regarding any extensions, no shows, and followup appointments.
